This catalog and the exhibit it represents (seen in Rotterdam, Lyons, and Paris during 1997) focuses on Kees van Dongen's early work on paper, filling lacunae left by exhibits of later work mounted during the past nine years. The artist (1877-1968) was a Dutch painter who migrated to Paris and is known for his colorful Fauvist canvases, his portraits of international figures and the Parisian beau monde, and for his female nudes.
