The Glories of Mary is a classic of Mariology, written during the 18th century by Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the great Doctor of the Church. The book was written at a time when Jansenists criticized Marian devotions, and was written in part as a defense of Marian devotion. The book combines numerous citations in favor of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Church Fathers and the Doctors of the Church with Saint Alphonsus' own personal views on Marian veneration and includes a number of Marian prayers and practices. Part 1 focuses on the Salve Regina and explains how God gave Mary to mankind as the "Gate of Heaven". St. Alphonsus quotes Saint Bonaventure: "No one can enter Heaven unless by Mary, as though through a door." Part 2 deals with the key Marian feasts such as the Immaculate Conception, Nativity, Purification, Annunciation, Assumption, etc. Part 3 looks at the Seven Sorrows of Mary, explaining how her "prolonged martyrdom" was greater than that of all other martyrs. In part 4 fourth we discuss ten different virtues of the Blessed Virgin, while part 5 rounds out the work with a collection of prayers, meditations and devotions.

Mysteries of the Old Testament is the second volume of the long-awaited "New Light on the Visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich" series. The first part begins with the visionary's account of Joseph and his wife Asenath in Egypt, with special focus on "The Mystery of the Promise"--perhaps the most unique and powerful theme running through all these volumes. Fresh perspectives are then offered on Moses, Samson and Delilah, the Nazirites, Elijah and Elisha, Tobias, Ezra, Zoroaster the Holy Book of Ctesiphon, and the final prophet, Malachi. The second part, entitled The Ark of the Covenant and the Mystery of the Promise is absolutely thrilling, passing through earlier stages of the Ark of the Covenant, which reaches its consummation in its fourth and final form--the Virgin Mary herself. Anne Catherine Emmerich was born on September 8, 1774, at Flamske, Germany. From early childhood she was blessed with the gift of spiritual sight and lived almost constantly in inner vision of scenes of the Old and New Testaments. Later, her visions became concerned primarily with the life of Jesus Christ, although they encompassed also the lives of many saints and other personages (some unknown to history) as well as far-reaching insights into many other mysteries. In 2004 she was beatified by Pope John Paul II. This series supplements an earlier Angelico publication: The Visions of Anne Catherine Emmerich, Books I-III. In 2009 the original notes of Anne Catherine's visions (in 38 notebooks) became for the first time available for reference, and the present series incorporates much new material translated therefrom. With regard to both individuals and themes, every reference thus far located in the notes and in prior translations have been woven together, so the reader can find in one place almost all of what Anne Catherine had to say on each topic. As regards the series as a whole, virtually every individual in the biblical visions (approximately 250 in total) is referenced in the five People of the New Testament volumes. The Life of the Virgin Mary is dedicated to Mary (and her Essene ancestry), and Scenes from the Lives of the Saints treats of fifty-nine saints. Its style was unpretending, its ideas simple, its tone unassuming, its sentiments unexaggerated, and its every sentence expressive of the most complete and entire submission to the Church.
