El presente manual es una breve guia para aquellos interesados en los lugares romanos que tienen que ver con el Nuevo Testamento, y en particular con Pedro y Pablo. Por mas de 10 anos el Dr. Schmisek ha dirigido Programas de Educacion para el Ministerio en la Ciudad Eterna. Este libro ha tomado forma gracias a las preguntas, aportaciones y comentarios hechos por alumnos a lo largo de esos anos. Si bien no se abordan todas y cada una de las edificaciones referidas por el Nuevo Testamento en la ciudad de Roma, el manual mas bien se enfoca en lugares e iglesias significativas que guardan una cierta relacion con algun relato petrino o paulino: se incluyen lugares tales como San Pedro en el Vaticano, San Pablo Extramuros, lo mismo que San Pedro en el Montorio y las Tre Fontane. En este libro hay dos partes primarias: la primera consiste en un sondeo de lo que se sabe (y no se sabe) en referencia con el tiempo que Pedro y Pablo transcurrieron en Roma. En este sondeo se incluyen tambien las diversas fuentes de los relatos paulino y petrino ya que estas resultan clave para entender muchos de los sitios por visitar, asi como su significado. La segunda parte del libro se parece mas a una guia turistica presentada en cuatro secciones, mismas que se corresponden de manera general con las areas de la ciudad. Este breve manual sera una guia valiosa para aquellos que buscan un mayor entendimiento del contexto historico y legendario de los sitios historicos petrinos y paulinos en Roma.

The reader has a preface introducing the student to the Greek authors. The lessons reinforce grammar and vocabulary in this classic introductory textbook. Students meet Socrates, Plato, Cyrus, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, his horse Bucephalus, and more. They read about events surrounding Socrates' trial and execution, Plato's analogy of the cave, Caesar's capture by pirates, the first chapter of Genesis, and a famous Psalm. A Greek Reader for Chase and Phillips

This handbook is a short guide for those who are interested in Roman sites that have something to do with the New Testament, and in particular with Peter and Paul. For more than ten years, Dr. Schmisek has led graduate ministry programs in the Eternal City. This book is informed by the questions, insights, and comments from students over those years. While not addressing each and every claimed New Testament artifact in the city of Rome, the handbook focuses on the more significant churches and locales that have a connection to Petrine and Pauline legends: places such as St. Peter’s at the Vatican and St. Paul’s outside the Walls are included, but also St. Peter’s at Montorio and Tre Fontane. There are two primary parts to this book: the first is a brief survey of what is known (and not known) regarding Peter and Paul’s time in Rome. The various sources of Pauline and Petrine legends are included in this survey as those legends are key to interpreting many sites and their significance. The second part of the book is more akin to a tour book laid out in four subsections, generally corresponding to geographical areas of the city.
