The Rossland Group in south-eastern British Columbia comprises intermediate to mafic volcanic rocks and associated clastic rocks of Lower Jurassic age. The Group hosts a variety of gold and silver deposits and continues to be a target of mineral exploration. The purpose of the study reported is to develop a better understanding of the nature, timing, and controls of mineralization in the Group, particularly the intrusion-related gold-copper veins in the Rossland camp. The report describes the Rossland Group stratigraphy, its paleotectonic setting, and associated intrusions. It summarizes the structure of the Rossland Group area and presents a tectonic model for the Group. Information is also included on the regional geologic setting and the geochemistry of the Elise Formation and plutonic rocks.

The Jurassic Rossland Group in south-east British Columbia is a volcanic arc succession that contains a variety of deposits typical of volcanic arcs. This report focusses on deposits in the Group, particularly on those that have had recent exploration, and on the metallogeny of the Nelson-Rossland map area. The report first reviews the regional geology of the area and describes a number of type examples of mineral deposits in Rossland Group rocks & others in the area. These include carbonate-hosted deposits, volcanogenic massive sulphides, porphyry copper-gold deposits, skarns, and gold-quartz & polymetallic veins. The principal focus is on the deposits of the Rossland copper/gold mining camp, the second largest lode gold producing camp in the province. The regional geology around Rossland is summarized, the main deposit types are described, and a model for intrusive-related gold-sulphide veins is presented. Appendices include a table of mineral occurrences in the area, production data for the area's metallic deposits, a petrographic report, analyses of samples, reports on geochronological dating & isotope characterization, and fluid inclusion data.

The Forrest Kerr-Mess Creek map area straddles the intermontane & coast belt boundary in north-west British Columbia. This report presents results of geological investigations undertaken to produce detailed maps & a database to better understand the geological setting of the area's mineral deposits and to aid in making new mineral discoveries. The introduction includes information on previous geological work in the area and on the regional geology. Chapter 2 describes the stratigraphy of the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and later formations. Chapter 3 covers the area's intrusive rocks, including plutonic suites, dikes, and other intrusions. Chapter 4 discusses geologic structure, including deformational history and faults. The final chapter examines the area's economic geology and includes descriptions of mineral occurrences of four types: porphyry, skarn, sub-volcanic vein, and stratiform.

Skarns in British Columbia have historically been important sources of iron, tungsten, copper, and gold. This publication begins with an introduction on skarn terminology and the problems of skarn identification. It then reviews a genetic model of skarn formation and presents descriptive profiles of eight types of skarn deposits; describes the database of at least 735 skarn occurrences in the province, and the number and distribution of skarns in British Columbia according to their associations, class, age, and distribution; and notes the ages of British Columbia skarns and the total production of various metals extracted from British Columbia skarns. Subsequent sections provide information on assays and metal ratios of mineralized skarns, skarn mineralogy, skarn mineral chemistry, chemistry of skarn-related intrusions, and the mapping and evaluation of skarns. The appendix contains a listing of 735 skarn occurrences in British Columbia, giving deposit name, MINFILE number, latitude/longitude, elements and minerals present, and associated rocks and their ages.
