This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Rules, RuleML 2011 - Europe, held in Barcelona, Spain, in July 2011 - collocated with the 22nd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, IJCAI 2011. It is the first of two RuleML events that take place in 2011. The second RuleML Symposium - RuleML 2011 - America - will be held in Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA, in November 2011. The 18 revised full papers, 8 revised short papers and 3 invited track papers presented together with the abstracts of 2 keynote talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Workshop on Computational Logic in Multi-Agent Systems, CLIMA-XI, held in Lisbon, Portugal in August 2010. The 14 papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 31 submissions. The purpose of the CLIMA workshops is to provide a forum for discussing techniques, based on computational logic, for representing, programming and reasoning about agents and multi-agent systems in a formal way. CLIMA 2010 featured two thematic special sessions on norms and normative multi-agent systems and logics for games and strategic reasoning.

Computational Logic in Multi-Agent Systems

The 2008 International Symposium on Rule Interchange and Applications (RuleML th 2008), collocated in Orlando, Florida, with the 11 International Business Rules - rum, was the premier place to meet and to exchange ideas from all fields of rules te- nologies. The aim of RuleML 2008 was both to present new and interesting research results and to show successfully deployed rule-based applications. This annual sym- sium is the flagship event of the Rule Markup and Modeling Initiative (RuleML). The RuleML Initiative (www.ruleml.org) is a non-profit umbrella organization of several technical groups organized by representatives from academia, industry and government working on rule technologies and applications. Its aim is to promote the study, research and application of rules in heterogeneous distributed environments such as the Web. RuleML maintains effective links with other major international societies and acts as intermediary between various ‘specialized’ rule vendors, appli- tions, industrial and academic research groups, as well as standardization efforts from, for example, W3C, OMG, and OASIS.

These are the proceedings of the 11th International Workshop on Compu- tional Logicin Multi-Agent Systems (CLIMA-XI), held during August 16–17,in Lisbon, collocated with the 19th European Conference on Arti?cial Intelligence (ECAI-2010). Multi-agentsystemsarecommunitiesofproblem-solvingentitiesthatcanp- ceive and act upon their environment in order to achieve both their individual goals and their joint goals. The work on such systems integrates many techno- giesandconceptsfromarti?cialintelligenceandotherareasofcomputingaswell as other disciplines. Over recent years, the agent paradigm gained popularity, due to its applicability to a full spectrum of domains, such as search engines, recommendation systems, educational support, e-procurement, simulation and routing,electroniccommerceandtrade,etc.Computationallogicprovidesawe- de?ned, general, and rigorousframeworkfor studying the syntax, semantics and procedures for the various tasks in individual agents, as well as the interaction between, and integration among, agents in multi-agent systems. It also provides tools, techniques and standards for implementations and environments, for li- ing speci?cations to implementations, and for the veri?cation of properties of individual agents, multi-agent systems and their implementations. The purpose of the CLIMA workshops is to provide a forum for discussing techniques, based on computational logic, for representing, programming and reasoning about agents and multi-agent systems in a formal way. Former CLIMA editions have been conducted in conjunction with other - jor Computational Logic and AI events such as CL in 2000, ICLP in 2001 and 2007, FLoC in 2002, LPNMR and AI-Math in 2004, JELIA in 2004 and 2008 and MATES in 2009. In 2005 CLIMA was not associated with any major event.

Foundation for Legal Knowledge Systems

The 22nd edition of the JURIX conference was held in Rotterdam on the 17th and 18th December and was hosted by the Erasmus University Rotterdam. While the conference was back to its country of origin, JURIX continues to attract a wide international audience. This year, the conference received submissions from all five continents. This clearly demonstrates the lively and growing interest for the highly interdisciplinary discipline of legal informatics. The selection of papers for this edition of JURIX covers a wide variety of topics in legal informatics, including contributions on established fields such as legal document management, argumentation, case based reasoning, dispute resolution, support for legal drafting and ontologies, to emerging areas such as regulatory compliance, normative multi-agent systems and game theory, as well as application areas, for example, fraud detection, legal tutoring systems and legal decision support systems.

The PRIMA workshop series was initiated as a workshop of the Paci?c Rim International Conference in Arti?cial Intelligence (PRICAI) to provide a forum that would bring together research in the areas of agent te- nologyandmulti-agentsystems,both inthePaci?cRimregionandbeyond. The inaugural workshopin the series was held in Singapore in 1998, with subsequent meetingsin Kyoto(1999),Melbourne (2000),Taipei (2001),Tokyo(2002),Seoul (2003), Auckland (2004), Kuala Lumpur (2005) and Guilin (2006). At the 10th PRIMA in Bangkok in November 2007, the Steering Committee agreed that the series had grown in size and achieved a level of maturity to become a conference seriesofitsown. ItwasthereforeagreedthatfromBangkokin2007PRIMAwould stand for the Paci?cRim International Conference on Multi-Agent Systems. PRIMA 2007 received 102 valid submissions. Each submission was pe- reviewed by at least three referees selected from the Program Committee. As a result of the selection process, 22 submissions were accepted as full research papers, yielding an acceptance rate of 22. 22%. In addition the programincluded 11 application papers and 16 short papers. A special session on Agent-Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE) was organized by Graham Low from the Univ- sity of New South Wales (Australia) and Ghassan Beydoun from the University of Wollongong (Australia), where papers were invited from the AOSE com- nity, but put through the same rigourous reviewing process.
