Richard Jefferies is one of the major figures in the long tradition of British rural writers and yet, in the century since his death, there has been no descriptive bibliography of his work. In this book, which is based on over 20 years of collecting and researching, the authors have documented more than 1500 individual items of material by or about Jefferies. The main sections include a listing of all known periodical contributions (with synoposes of all those which have not been reprinted), a description of all known published editions of his books (whether original works or anthologies) and a listing of all pertinent works about Jefferies in books and periodicals. It includes the first complete record of the manuscripts held in the British Library and other public and private collections, together with a chronological list of the published works and an an alphabetical index of Jefferies' titles.
