जावेद अख्तर एक कामयाब पटकथा लेखक, गीतकार और शायर होने के अलावा एक ऐसे परिवार के सदस्य भी है जिसके जिक्र के बगैर उर्दू अदब का इतिहास कूर नहीं कहा जा सकता। जावेद अख्तर प्रसिद्ध प्रगतिशील शायर जाँनिसार अख्तर और मशहूर लेखिका सफिया अख्तर के बेटे और प्रगतिशील आँदोलन के एक और जगमगाने सितारे, लोकप्रिय कवि मजाज के भांजे है । अपने दौर के रससिद्ध शायर मुज्तर खैराबादी जावेद के दादा थे । मुत्जर के वालिद सैयद अहमद हुसैन ‘रुस्वा’ एक मधुर सुवक्ता कवि थे । मुज्तर की वालिदा सईंदुन-निसा ‘हिरमाँ' उन्नीसवीं सदी की उन चंद कवयित्रियों में से है जिनका नाम उर्दू के इतिहास में आता है । जावेद की शायरा परदादी हिरमाँ के वालिद अल्लामा फ़ज़ले-हक़ खैराबादी अपने समय के एक विश्वस्त अध्येता, दार्शनिक, तर्कशास्त्री और अरबी के शायर थे । अल्लामा फ़ज़ले-हक़ , ग़ालिब के करीबी दोस्त थे और वो ‘दीवाने-गालिब’ जिसे दुनिया आँखों से लगाती है, जावेद के स्रगड़दादा अल्लामा फ़ज़ले-हक़ का ही संपादित किया हुआ है । अल्लामा फ़ज़ले-हक़ ने 1857 की जंगे-आज़ादी में लोगों का जी जान रने नेतृत्व करने के जुर्म में अंग्रेजों से काला यानी की सजा पाई और वहीं अंडमान में उनकी मृत्यु हुई । इन तमाम पीढियों से जावेद अख्तर को सोच, साहित्य और संस्कार विरासत में मिले है और जावेद अख्तर ने अपनी शायरी से विरसे में मिली इस दौलत को बढाया ही है । जावेद अख्तर को कविता एक औद्योगिक नगर की शहरी सभ्यता में जीनेवाले एक शायर की शायरी है । बेबसी और बेचारगी, भूख और बेघरी, भीड़ और तनहाई, गंदगी और जुर्म, नाम और गुमनामी, पत्थर के फुटपाथों और शीशे की ऊँची इमारतों से लिपटी ये Urban तहजीब न सिर्फ कवि को सोच बल्कि उसकी ज़बान और लहजे पर भी प्रभावी होती है । जावेद को शायरी एक ऐसे इंसान की भावनाओँ की शायरी है जिसने वक्त के अनगिनत रूप अपने भरपूर रंग में देखे है । जिसने जिन्दगी के सर्द-गर्म मौसमों को पूरी तरह महसूस किया है । जो नंगे पैर अंगारों पर चला है, जिसने ओस में भीगे फूलों को चूमा है और हर कड़वे-मीठे ज़ज्बे को चखा है । जिसने नुकीले रने नुकीले अहसास को छूकर देखा है और जो अपनी हर भावना और अनुभव को बयान करने को शक्ति रखता है । जावेद अख्तर जिन्दगी को अपनी ही आँखों से देखता है और शायद इसीलिए उसकी शायरी एक आवाज है, किसी और की गूँज नहीं । डॉ. गोपीचंद नारंग

He presents a panoramic gallery of female characters such as Nilovna, Sophia, Natasha, Sasha and Ludmilla in his debate-raging novel “Mother”. These female personages belong to the various social classes of the Russian social formation but they possess universality in their personalities whom we have often met every day and everywhere in our daily life. Gorky endows them with class-consciousness, which enables them to involve in the revolutionary proletariat movement, considering Socialism the only way of woman’s emancipation and enfranchisement as well as class-liberation. This paper tends to focus on the re-evaluation and investigation into Maxim Gorky's realistic depiction of these women to delineate their revolutionary roles in the structure of his novel as well as in the Russian Communist politics and social formation form a Marxist Feminist perspective in a new and innovative way. How these female figures are developed from their bourgeois and petty-bourgeois class-milieu to the level of radical Marxist activists and militants. How they liberate themselves from their cowed, wretched and oppressed living conditions into which they have been subjugated, tortured and beaten by men.

Characterisation of Women in Maxim Gorky’s Novel "Mother". A Marxist Feminist Perspective

Samuel Beckett was born on Good Friday, April 13, 1906, at Fox rock near Dublin, Ireland. Belonging to a middle class Protestant home, Samuel Beckett enjoyed very good childhood because his family was Protestant and well to do in Ireland. His family home is of a Tudor style house, standing amidst lawns, a tennis court and a croquet lawn. He was second son of William Frank Beckett and Mary Beckett. In a poor country like Ireland, William Frank Beckett was a self-made person and he made his living as a surveyor. He was well-liked, respected and prosperous businessperson in Dublin. The Becketts had very good parental terms with Samuel Beckett and in this regard, he had a happy childhood, enjoying a comfortable life style. Moreover, Samuel Beckett's parents wished him to be educated well, and were proud of his sporting as well as academic progress. Finally, they were able to send Samuel Beckett to the best schools of Ireland such as Earlsfort House School in Dublin and Protoria Royal in the north. Therefore, he was educated at Earls Fort House preparatory school in Dublin, and then at the boarding school Portia Royal, one of the best and most expensive schools in Ireland. All through his childhood, Samuel Beckett's chief talents and interests were in French and English and he was inspired by the works of Dante and Racine.

Scientific Essay from the year 2017 in the subject Literature - Comparative Literature, , language: English, abstract: The aim of this research paper is to explore, by comparing and contrasting them, the two literary characters Hamlet and Oblomov and how they are exploited by William Shakespeare and Ivan Goncharov in different historical ages to project different visions of the human situation. Every author is influenced by his age to certain degrees and if the art of characterisation of William Shakespeare is set against that of Ivan Goncharov, it is because of the difference in ideological perspectives. William Shakespeare’s character Hamlet comes from Renaissance England and Ivan Goncharov’s character Oblomov comes from nineteenth century Russia. The former is in certain ways different from the latter despite the fact that some traits of both characters are the same, such as indecision and procrastination. The comparison and contrast will be highlighted in this paper in terms of Marxist hermeneutics, which is a scientific theory and method of analysing the social and literary types in the context of class milieu. Applying Marxist literary hermeneutics to the art of characterisation of both the authors, the present study tries to introduce new portrait and reevaluation of the personages of the two literary types in an innovative perspective.

Comparison between Hamlet and Oblomov

Javed Akhtar's poetry speaks of the urban milieu that envelops him. Helplessness, hunger and homelessness, crowds and solitude, f ilth and crime, fame and obscurity, rock-strewn footpaths and glass-studded skyscrapers: this cosmopolitan world he inhabits seeps into the tone and tenor of his writing. Akhtar's sharply observed poems stretch across time and space, articulate the extremities of hot and cold seasons, of walking barefoot on live-hot embers and the tenderness of kissing f lowers drenched in dew. These are bit tersweet verses from a man who has felt f irsthand the sharpness of sensation.
