These questions are answered by the essays collected in this volume, which are structured along three fundamental lines of interpretation: a historical approach, which highlights the relationship between image and imagination in the history of thought; an ethical-political viewpoint, which focuses on the role of the image-imagination pair in individual or collective choice; and finally, an aesthetic viewpoint, which shows the specificity of the artistic dimension, whether visual or literary.
