When Ellie Landry's tenth grade history teacher assigns her class a genealogy project, Ellie figures she'll spend an afternoon interviewing old folks at the local nursing home (booooring) and be done with it. Little does she know she's about to uncover family ties that have been purposefully concealed from her, and that her own family tree is more rooted in southern Louisiana folklore than she ever imagined. While investigating her family's past, she discovers that her ancestors' supernatural abilities are very much alive in her.
