This 32-page artist's book by the young Hamburg-based artist and designer, Stefan Marx, features loose, sometimes dark and always savvy line drawings of things like a sunny-side-up egg, a woman's ear with a big hoop earring and a muscular bird above the caption "Strong men or losers like me." There are bright gouachey graphic works like a set of complementary two-toned human skulls and a Raymond Pettibon-esque hanging globe/disco ball/wrecking ball that bring to mind the limited edition T-shirts Marx designs for his "Lousy Livin' Company." Marx has created T-shirts and board graphics for Hessenmob and Cleptomanix Skateboards and has contributed artwork to skate and street culture exhibitions worldwide.

The book content is a selection from the personal drawing diaries, on which Stefan worked over the last two years, combining some of the finest paper paintings and drawings with book drawings and written notes. The intimacy of the subject matter portrayed in the book is also reflected in the title, chosen for its moody romantic inner meaning, which sums up Stefan working style "going through life writing and drawing down the lowlights." Egyptian loneliness, witty sentences, romantic landscapes and funny happy characters fill the journey into Stefan Marx creative mind and genius, taking us through new fields and directions but still retaining all the powerful imagery seen in his previous Nieves publications. Stefan thinking/working/living/drawing 24 hours a day attitude, and strong skateboard links have been the reason for his many collaborations with brands such as 2k Tshirts, Azita, BeamsT, Cleptomanicx, Landscape Sk., Playhouse Records or Smallville Records, while he founded his own "Lousy Livin' Company" (www.livincompany.de) between 1995/96 which produces each season a handful of t-shirts plus occasional special editions. Nieves' first contact with Stefan's work was through its zine Andere Mütter haben auch schöne Töchter published as part of the 2004 Nieves Zine Series.
