A sourcebook of ideas for artists and others interested in the curiosities of culture at large, Cabinet 40, with its special section devoted to "Hair," features Jeffrey Kastner on the visual language of the barber pole, Laurel Braitman on the laboratory behavior of "barber mice," Mats Bigert on the ritual of shaving the left leg of a prisoner before electrocution and Janet Connelly on the disappearing pubic hair of the porn star, as well as artist projects by Julia Jacquette and Susan Hiller.

A pocket atlas of Suffolk, giving comprehensive and detailed coverage of the region. The mapping is produced by the Ordnance Survey to Philip's specification and gives the user complete coverage of all urban and rural areas. The mapping is at a standard scale of 2.5 inches to one mile and is complete with postcode boundaries.

This song book, featuring lyrics of 102 songs selected by the artist, is an integral part (and an extension) of Susan Hiller's project for dOCUMENTA (13).'Working with these songs in preparing this book reminded me that what's in the news now is what the news and what the songs have been about for most of my life: liberation movements, when people reach out and try to grab hold of freedom; unemployment, unfairness, banks crashing, war; peoples' hopes and demands for justice, peace, and equal rights. Popular music is a counterpoint to the rhythms of contemporary life, an omnipresent, atmospheric condition of public space everywhere, in cafes, shops, nightclubs and buses, from radio, the Internet and various recording and listening devices. Songs can get people talking and thinking. I'm reminded that popular music has been and remains a dangerous art...' (Susan Hiller)

Die Gedanken sind frei : [song book ; this book is an extension of "Die Gedanken sind frei: 100 songs for the 100 days of dOCUMENTA (13), 2011 - 12, an interactive audio sculpture dispersed on 5 sites ...]

This book explores the fusion of myth, history and geography which leads to ideas of primitivism, and looks at their construction, interpretation and consumption in Western culture. Contextualized by Susan Hiller's introductions to each section, discussions range from the origins of cultural colonialism to eurocentric ideas of primitive societies, including the use of primitive culture in constructing national identities, and the appropriation of primitivist imagery in modernist art. The result is a controversial critique of art theory, practice and politics, and a major enquiry into the history of primitivism and its implications for contemporary culture.
