Anyway, the plot to this was really just a jumping off point for the rest of the series and doesn’t truly stand as an individual installment, but it was still fun if you’re into grown adults routinely trying to capture and murder orphans. The mystery gets more intense, and the formula we became used to is broken, which is exciting. Plus, Snicket’s disdain for the media is palpable and hilarious.

There is nothing to be found in the pages of A Series of Unfortunate Events but misery and despair. You still have time to choose another international best-seller to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on . . . There are many pleasant things to read about, but The Hostile Hospital contains none of them. Within its pages are such burdensome details as a suspicious shopkeeper, unnecessary surgery, heartshaped balloons, and some very startling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to read about such things. With 5 million copies sold in the UK alone, one might consider Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events to make him one of the most successful children’s authors of the past decade. We, however, consider these miserable so-called adventure stories and the Hollywood film starring Jim Carrey that accompanied the books for children as nothing more than a dreadful mistake.

Supensful. Olaf was on another level with his plotting in this book. 

On the run after being falsely accused of murder, the three Baudelaire orphans find themselves in the Heimlich Hospital, with the evil Count Olaf in close pursuit.

I don’t know why but this was my least favourite of the series thus far. I feel like it was very much rushed through. Still enjoyable, just would’ve enjoyed a bit more fleshing out.

This is probably the darkest book in the series so far. I love how it's so obvious that these characters are slowly growing up. I have so many theories for this series and I can't wait to see what's coming next.

           I don't have too much to say about this installment of these books other than it was amazing, but so are all the rest. I will forever hold a special place in my heart for the Baudelaire orphans and the series of unfortunate events that they go through.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about V.F.D. and Beatrice's and Lemony's connections to everything (Esmé and her sugar bowl).

This is also the first time that the siblings ever had to split up, and I loved seeing the character growth in Violet and Klaus in the end when they all decided to jump together after the experience of what happened with the cranioectomy.

I've already watched the first episode of this book in the Netflix series, and I love the similarities, and the subtle differences between the two. I can't wait to watch the next one!

P.S. this installment was definitely the darkest one yet! I was legitimately afraid during some parts lol, and it's supposed to be a kid's book.

In this next book about the Baudelaires, the orphans try to make research to know more about VFD and other informations the Quagmire triplets gathered. But of course Count Olaf would not leave them alone.

To be honest I was a little disappointed but this book. With the end of the other I really thought that much more informations and actions were to come. But it was still enjoyable, it's easy to read or listen to and I love the characters and the writing that bring so much humour in this quite dark story. I will obviously continue.

I. Just. Want. To. Finish. This. Series.

That is all. I just have trouble with all those ignorant adults. I mean really.. How is it that there is not a single adult in this book that acts like a normal person. I get it that's the way this book is written, it is meant for kids, I get all that, but why??

One of my favorite ones so far! I could not remember the story line from the first time I read it, but you can definitely see the Baudelaire children's character growth in this one! Loved re-experiencing these books!

Finally, the plot thickens!

Well, not really, since as much as they wanted to find out more about the fire that killed their parents, and the Quagmire Triplets, and VFD, they were sooooo close but too late. Once again, these series of unfortunate events continue to deliver lackluster outcomes on the fate of the Baudelaires and why their parents had to die in such a tragic way.

At least we know that there is a mysterious file about the Baudelaires, including a potential survivor of the fire, and two people that were friends with the Baudelaire parents, but who Violet, Klaus and Sunny have never met in their life! Wow, did that sentence even make sense?

The series is definitely getting better, and we are getting so close to figuring out everything! Like what the REAL VFD is, and where the Baudelaire file is, and why the heck is Count Olaf is such an evil creature!

It's like this book listens to me and give me what I wanted.

Finally, we start to know the story behind all those unfortunate events. And this ending was genius; I wasn't prepared for that. I think that I am more afraid than the Baudelaire for their future. There is a moment that I love while listening to the story: the song sings by the VFD chef in the audiobook it's just perfect.

However, I found that this book has a strange pace. It's slow for most of the book and starts to accelerate for the last two chapters and a chapter in the middle. To tell the truth, I was a little bored during the slow part of the book as I feel that at the same time, nothing is happening.

Also, even if I could overshadow the adult's behaviours, in the last one, here couldn't. It's an element that I have a big problem with and since the beginning of the story. I am fed up with it, and sadly, I know it won't change.

I hope to finish this series as I only have five more books, but I promise nothing.

Ugh, this one gives me the creeps, and the 'VFD' song is incredibly annoying when you hear it for the hundreth time lmao. I wish they had made the hospital like this in the Netflix show, one half pretty and new and the other half finished, instead of full on decayed. Also, here it says there's a survivor of the *Baudelaire* fire which is a bit misleading, I think?

3.75* Once again, this was a fun addition to the series, although I did feel it felt a little like a 'filler' book! Not the most memorable of the series so far but it still had me turning the pages, feeling intrigued as to what is going on! I would just like a little more development as there's a lot of teasing going on, which has been intrigued but I'd be glad for some kind of revelation at some point soon... :')
