About That Kiss is a charming and sweet romance that will leave you with a smile on your face and a book that will evoke hoots of laughter and smiles all around...perfect book to get you out of the winter blues

I haven't read Jill Shalvis in a while, I will admit that I didn't get a kick out of book one, so I have been nervous to get back into this series but I can say that I really enjoyed About That Kiss way more than I was expecting too. I really have to be in the mood to enjoy Jill Shalvis and I think I was in the "right" mood for this book. And I am so happy that I really enjoyed this as much as I did. It was a bit different than what I was expecting, but I was pretty happy with out it played out in the end.

Both Joe and Kylie have a love/hate relationship going on. They have a great kiss which is why the title is so aptly named "about that kiss" because honestly they keep going back to that moment. Joe has a few alpha male tendacies, he has never taken it seriously with a woman before so of course he is way out of his element with Kylie. Now Kylie has had her sights set on her boss, but the way that Joe kisses her changes everything even though she knows that Joe doesn't do relationships or long term....EVER!! And boy she feels like she is walking down a path that is so unknown.

What really made this book WOW the reader, is the chemistry that these two have. I do have to say that I LOVED their interchanges and boy these kissing changes are powerful I can tell you that much. Definitely blew me away and yeah I liked Joe's character because his whole take control and kiss the gal against the wall or inside a closet...totally did it for me. And I really got a kick out of seeing them solve a mystery together and develop some true heartfelt feelings for each other along the way. There was an almost "poignant" feel to their relationship and I just adored the way this story developed especially the romance of the story was so "on key" and I have to say Bravo to Jill Shalvis for making this book so special for me.

Ah, I just love reading any story from Jill Shalvis. She has the wonderful talent for creating funny yet romantic stories that you want them to be real no matter what. She has that wonderful talent that I enjoy About That Kiss.

About That Kiss is the part of the Heartbreaker Bay series. The reader gets to read about previous characters from the series but we really get to know how Joe fall in love. And it is definitely doozy yet epic too.

Joe has always been known for the fun guy. Always having an adventure with himself or friends or the ladies. He is the life of the party no matter what occasion. It is not a bad thing but it is not a good thing for any woman who wants to settle down which is why Kylie won´t go for him. But it is definitely meant to be since they have crazy attraction and chemistry for each other.

Kylie has worked so hard throughout her career that she does not want any more one night stand guys. She wants to settle down. But it is going to be hard because Joe is everything. It´s going to be an adventure for them because they will work together to get something precious back to her.

About That Kiss will bring laughter in your day because Joe and Kylie are a hit to read. Four Stars.

Totally Addicted to Reading

Wow! Jill Shalvis has done it again. The Heartbreaker series gets better 
with each installment. I am yet to read a book from the series I did not enjoy and About That Kiss did not disappoint. Jill Shalvis created a swoony, slow burn romance with a dash of mystery, which kept me turning the pages and had me smiling to the end.



 

Prior to its release, I had the pleasure of reading an excerpt, which clued me into the fun I would have with this title. You know you are bound to have a fun and exciting journey when the main characters in the story can barely tolerate each other but their chemistry is off the charts.


Joe and Kylie intrigued me from the moment I first met them, so I was happy to discover they would be the focus of this installment. Learning about these two was indeed a treat. The possibility of them becoming a couple seemed unlikely, that was until the search for a wood penguin, Kylie’s most treasured possession, threw them together forcing them to acknowledge the chemistry which existed between them. The more time they spent together solving the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Kylie’s penguin, the more their attraction to each other grew. I enjoyed interacting with them as a couple. You should know though Kylie was no pushover. She wanted all of Joe and was not willing to settle for less. I admired her stance, which proved she knew her worth as a woman.


The story of Joe’s past was surprising. This was due to how he presented himself. He always seems to have everything together, but I came to realise he showed the side he wanted persons to see. His childhood was not a pleasant one, and he had to deal with tragedy from an early age. Added to that, he found himself in dangerous situations. He allowed his past to determine how he now lived his life, which had a negative and positive impact. Professionally, it made him a better soldier, fighter and protector, but personally, it prevented him from maintaining long-lasting relationships. 


It was a pleasure reconnecting with the characters from the previous instalments. The bonds of friendship were as strong as ever. I enjoyed the humorous rapport between the gang and loved the way they had each other backs.


Besides the romance, which had me turning the pages, the mystery element had me hooked. My curiosity about who was behind the missing wooden penguin was on high alert. I could not wait to find out who was taunting Kylie. Trying to figure out the person behind the missing penguin placed them both in precarious and at times humorous situations. However, no matter how dangerous things became they were determined to solve the mystery.


Conclusion and Recommendation

About That Kiss is another of my favourite reads for 2018. It combined all the ingredients to make for a fantastic story. Mystery, romance and suspense it delivered them all. I can’t wait to see which couple’s story will be next.

Kylie and Joe shared a scorching kiss after a night of celebrating their friends' engagement and both don't know what to do about it. When Kylie's most treasured possessions, a hand-carved wooden penguin, is stolen she turns to Joe for help knowing his skills as a private security firm enforcer/investigator will help solve the mystery. Both try to play it cool but as the investigation heats up, so does their chemistry.

AH. So good! I love a great frenemies to lovers tale and I adored how this story started with the big first kiss already in the characters' back pockets. Joe is the perfect mix of alpha with a heart of gold and Kylie is an awesome woodworker, has a fantastic little doggo, and is a swell leading lady!

I re-read this because one, it is awesome and sexy and super sweet, and two because it is about to be released! My favorite, so far, in the Heartbreaker Bay series by Jill Shalvis.

Does anyone write swoony, charming, sweet but sexy romance like Jill Shalvis? I think not. I just can't get enough of her writing, characters and especially the Heartbreaker Bay series. Can she please just keep adding new books to it forever? They make me totally heart-eyed every single time and I don't think I'll ever get enough of them.

About That Kiss is the story of Joe and Kylie. I absolutely adored both of them. Their story was fun, yet still had plenty of feels. And kissing. There was lots of that, too. Neither Joe nor Kylie were looking for a relationship, but their chemistry was undeniable — even if they tried — and the more time they spent together, the more apparent it became there was something special brewing. I read half this book with a giant, cheesy grin on my face and totally loved every minute of their story.

The Heartbreaker Bay series is rife with characters I've fallen for... hard. Joe and Kylie were stellar, obviously, but I also really enjoyed getting to see some of my favorites from earlier in the series again. I'm also looking forward to Molly's story because I think I'm half in girl crush mode with her already. (Oh how I hope her book is next!) It's not just the humans who bring something special to this series either. Kylie's dog Vinnie? Oh. My. Heart. He was just about the cutest and most charming little guy EVER — and this is coming from someone who really isn't a dog person. But, oh did he melt my heart.

I know I can always turn to Jill Shalvis when I want a darn good romance. Her books are the perfect combination of sweet, sass, sex, humor and swoons. About That Kiss was no exception. I loved it so freaking hard.

I have read a few books by Jill Shalvis and I have enjoyed every single one and that includes this book.

I love Kylie and Joe together. I love their chemistry. 

The story is well written. I had some laughs and I just couldn't put this book down.
