This was largely an autobiography, which isn't a bad thing, except it wasn't branded as an autobiography. The tagline is "Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making," but it would have been more honest and helped me to understand what I was reading if it added "from Andrew Peterson's life" on the end of that. As it was, I was expecting more philosophy and theology and got several rambling stories, not all of which I was able to connect to the book's tagline. That's not to say it wasn't a good book or didn't have good thoughts, but I do think it's geared toward people who are more Andrew Peterson fans, whereas I'm just a fan of quality Christian arts. He had some beautiful thoughts, but I would have appreciated it more if it didn't take a long story - largely from his own life and punctuated by a piece of his own poetry - to make each point. The result is that his thoughts were drawn from his own experiences which made the book feel narrow and as someone who doesn't have his personality /can't relate to the way he thinks, feel like he wasn't writing to me in a few places. More thoughts on community, calling, and the mystery of making drawn from more sources would have given this book more value to me.
