Can't help but think of Detective Conan since that one's my time, haha! Another Agatha Christie book that I really enjoyed reading. Hercule Poirot is smart, and his way of solving the crime is astounding. This is the first Hercule Poirot Mystery that I've read.

In a small library-café I found this second hand copy of A.B.C. murders for only 250 JPY. I brought it home along with a copy of The Labours of Hercules. My mom is a big fan of Agatha Christie and has virtually almost all titles of Christie's work in Indonesian translation, so I thought 250 JPY is a very good deal. I didn't think I would enjoy this book that much because I don't usually incline towards detective novels but this one blew my mind. Mom always says that the beauty and genius of Christie's work is in how she crafted the dialogues between characters and I can read it very well-- The novel engages us and keep us interesting without giving away as to _who done it_. I prefer this one than the other Christie book I have read, The Body in the Library.

Ottimo giallo, come dal resto la maggior parte di quelli della Christie. Appassionante, intricato, tuttavia non lo giudicherei come uno dei migliori dell'autrice. Sicuramente il finale è interessante, ma il colpo di scena non risulta essere così inaspettato. Anche in inglese la scrittura è estremamente piacevole e scorrevole.

A very different kind of mystery from the Dame. Hastings is back for a visit and assists Poirot in pursuing a serial killer, who follows alphabetical order for choosing his victims! There is also a separate point of view within narrative that complicates things. Oh, and Papa Poirot acts as a Cupid in the end once again. 

Grisly fact: there were three real-life Alphabet Murders committed in the early 70's in New York State, which to this day are unsolved. Life imitates art.

i didn't... enjoy this. the concept itself was alluring, i guess, but the execution was generally terrible. it was obvious that the red herring was, in fact, a red herring, because it would've been just too easy if was ***, and the prose was drab. and, choosing to use first person outsider POV added nothing to the story. i get that christie was going for the whole sherlock-watson thing but it doesn't come across, like, at all.

3.55⭐ My first Christie book
And it was as expected. Even tho ik Agatha is the queen of mystery novels and ABC is one of her finest works, i still didn't have skyrocketing expectations coz one, it's a classic. And classics disappoint you some way or other. This was still pretty good. The second half kept at edge then in the last few chapters i was literally holding my breath, and the last two chapters, OMG. What happened was something I really didn't expect I'll be honest I mean I suspected that very early but it was just me suspecting every character but the last reveal was well done and didn't seem out of place (special points for that)
My only problem was the first half. It was too slow for my liking, and as it's a classic you kind of know the plot and some spoilers too, so even tho ik that people r going to be killed alphabetically and bla bla bla, i still had to read to not miss the details. But everything is worth it for the last bit which was really cleverly done so pick this up!

A great story, just a slow narrative. An interesting read for those who enjoy murder mystery

This was a reread to see whether it was worth shelling out for one of those fancy hardback editions Waterstones is currently doing and...I don't think it is. The dual narrative is clever though, and the villain is a particularly nasty piece of work, IMO.

           I believe this is considered by many the best novel centered on Poirot, and I may not agree, but just because there are too many good ones that could take the title. But I believe this is definitely a strong contestant.

I have to say I wasn't as deceived as I usually am. I could tell there was something wrong with the primary suspects and found it too easy. I also guessed that maybe the murders were all trial-and-error for the important one, and I wasn't that far off. I found the solution of the case extremely brilliant nonetheless, and I could have never guessed how the culprit was.
I can say I am satisfied by this book.

Agatha is an amaxing woman! Gee, she always decieves me. When I think I have the answer, she is like "nope!" and I'm always suprised in the end. 
Loved this book, read it in less than a day. Certanly will be reading more of her books.

Just a reminder to myself to not read this again. First time the ending felt totally obvious to me and it was also super boring. 2 stars is kind of harsh since this is definitely better then some of the trash three star reads I've read but I know Ms Christie can do better than this

After reading Murder on the Orient Express and And Then There Were None, this was a let down for me. I thought it was a bit boring and although I didn't predict the ending it didn't surprise or wow me.
