I loved this read!
I use the word read here because I listened to the audio version. 

Was there a murder, or was there not? 
Was Norma responsible, or was she not? 
What is a Third Girl? 

While I think this could have been a quicker read because there was a lot of repetition, I never saw the ending happening the way Christie masterfully put it together. While I did suspect the murder, there was a twist that some may see coming, but I never did. 

If you are interested in a fun, easy read, this is the book for you! Hercule Poirot's ego was hurt early in the book, and he spends the rest of the book questioning if he is getting too old to be a detective but also working in ways that only an old hand could. 

We had nosey Mrs. Oliver going rogue and helping Poirot even though he had not asked for help, and Mrs. Oliver wondering if Poirot was too old. 

Overall, the book wraps up nicely, and it was a fun read that everyone who likes murder mysteries should read! Love, Drugs, Forged Art, and Stolen Identities, there is something there for everyone.

I'm getting increasingly weary of Christie's 1960s writing. It's jumping the shark. The plot is just okay and is more of a vehicle for the author to complain about the beatnik generation. Forgettable fluff.

Wie üblich führt Agatha Christie den Leser durch die Handlung, in der man im Dunklen tappt, vage Vermutungen äußert, immer wieder denkt, etwas Entscheidenes begriffen zu haben... Nur um sich nur sehr selten damit auszeichnen zu können, dass man tatsächlich den richtigen Gedanken hatte.
Poirot erhält Besuch von einem Mädchen, das erschüttert scheint mit der Vermutung, einen Mord begangen zu haben. Dann jedoch überlegt sie es sich anders - und verschwindet. Poirot ist unsicher, was er von der Geschichte halten soll, zumal es keinen Mord zu geben scheint, doch er beginnt, Ermittlungen anzustellen. Und mit jedem Puzzleteil, das er, mit Unterstützung der Autorin Ariadne Oliver, aufdeckt, wird die Geschichte nur verworrener und verwirrender.
Das Buch hatte den gewohnten Poirot-Charme, verschlungene Wege und einen Detektiv, der meistens mehr weiß, als er zugibt und verrät. Leider war mir die Geschichte an einigen Stellen zu verschlungen und undurchsichtig, und das Ende schließlich etwas zu einfach. Dennoch: ich lese so gern Poirots Geschichten und dieses bildet keine Ausnahme!

An interesting novel full of suspense

This one was my first Agatha Christie read. Yes yes, I know, I waited a long time but now it’s done. This book is actually the thirty-eighth book in the Hercule Poirot series. I liked it, but I thought that it was a bit slow sometimes. When Poirot was thinking and thinking again about everything that happened, it was really redundant and I just wanted to skip those pages. Otherwise the story was quite nice, and I didn’t guess the ending. I knew it had something to do with those characters but wasn’t sure as to why and how. I enjoyed the character of Poirot a lot and more especially of Mrs Oliver and of Norma. I read it quite fast, especially the second half of this book. 
I recommended it to everyone and especially people learning English as it is a very easy read.
