The Great Divide

"The Great Divide" by Alan Sullivan is a historical novel. It depicts the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the nineteenth century. Together with the Canadian Confederation, the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway was a task originally undertaken as the National Dream by the Conservative government of the Prime Minister in an attempt to improve transportation and communication across Canada's vast landscape.
