This book discusses political arguments arising from controversies about property and justice. It claims that understanding those arguments is best done by thinking about society as a social contract. Some social contracts are made in circumstances where the power of participants is roughly equal, and these are social contracts that we should call just. The book shows how people are entitled to the full fruits of their labour, but also how they have to make acontribution to the common good.
