There's just something about Pushkin's writing that draws me in. I will be honest, that it took me a little while to get into it, but once I was, I couldn't stop. I loved the flow of the prose and the characterisation of Grinyov and Masha and their developing relationship. I rather enjoyed the scenes with Pugachev, too, but most of all I liked how Pushkin wove historical facts with fiction to create this novella. Definitely a story I'd recommend!

La storia d’amore fra i due è molto travagliata, ma ricca di colpi di scena che fanno tenere il lettore incollato al libro per sapere se fra i due andrà tutto a buon fine.

La scrittura di Puskin, benché sia tradotto in italiano è moderna e scorrevole nonostante il romanzo sia stato pubblicato nel 1836, si sente ovunque l’anima romantica dell’autore, che rivive

il pensiero dell’amor romantico per la sua donna, con gli occhi del giovane protagonista. Mar’ja, Mascia, all’inizio ci sembrerà il classico stereotipo di donna amata, senza che il suo carattere e le sue doti vengano messe in evidenza. Ma è con il concludersi del romanzo che vediamo in questa giovane e timida fanciulla, emergere la donna forte che fa di tutto per salvare il suo amato.

Inutile dire che questo romanzo mi è piaciuto tantissimo, non è ne scontato ne dozzinale. Se avessi avuto tempo l’avrei letto in una sola notte accompagnando la lettura con una tazza di te, rigorosamente al bergamotto. Mi ritrovo ad apprezzare sempre di più di autori russi, dopo Dostoevsky e Tolstoj, Puskin è diventato sicuramente uno dei miei autori preferiti, intendo leggere altri suoi scritti, sicuramente la figlia del capitano è uno di quei romanzi che mi rimarranno impressi nel cuore.
