Another amazing read! 

I really enjoyed "The Whisper Man" and I doubted his second novel could be as good but maybe because I read this one (as opposed to listening to the former) I liked this better. I did miss Christopher Eccleston's voice though.

This book reminded me so much of C.J. Tudor's awesome plot and writing with the events from past and the present, the extremely creepy tales and the children in them. I don't want to give anything away that you don't find in the blurb except that this is both horror/thriller at its finest!

I can't quite bring myself to definitively state that I personally like The Whisper Man more. From an objective viewpoint, though, The Whisper Man has more emotional impact and is a generally a stronger book. I still enjoyed this, clearly. Perhaps I enjoy the idea of it most of all. 

The one thing I absolutely loved about The Shadow Friend was the importance lucid dreaming had to the plot. It reminded me of the first Insidious movie, which I’d really enjoyed. The way they used astral projection in Insidious gave the whole possession trope a fresh spin that I appreciated immensely. I'm also generally a sucker for stories that use dreams and sleep in such a big way.
