This book was a lot better than I was expecting. As I was reading it, I was thinking that I wasn't going to like it. I'm surprised with how engrossing the story was, it was moderately paced but I found myself eagerly anticipating the outcome.

The basic plot is that the wife of a pilot learns that her husband's plane has exploded off the coast of Ireland and that there are no survivors. While dealing with all the initial shock of his death, she also has to contend with the reaction and grief of their 15 year old daughter, and the media frenzy the goes along with a crash of this nature. She learns that the media and the investigators are saying that it was suicide. In an effort to prove to everyone that Jack would never commit suicide as well as murder all those passengers, she learns that her husband had many secrets from her and is not the man she thought he was for all those years together. 

I could definitely sympathize with Kathryn's situation. She was married to her husband for 16 years and he was living a complete double life. She will never get the answers, never find out why, she simply had to find out and deal with it which is not the easiest thing to do. I was not necessarily thrilled with the ending but I do think that the author captured Kathryn's grief and the tension between her and her fifteen year old. I would definitely recommend the story, it was sad and emotional journey but it was thankfully it went by quickly and remained fairly interesting throughout.

A good read, but found the ending a little disappointing....

Fantastic book. I simply could not put it down and was very disappointed when it ended. You really feel the pain that she is going through coping with the loss of her husband and subsequently finding out that she really didn't know him after all. I wish there had been a little more closure at the end though.

I just didn't connect with this book. I guess reading about infidelity just doesn't interest me. For me, another depressing Oprah book.
