Loved it. Pure comfort and friendship nostalgia. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a warm, heartfelt YA about four best friends spending their first summer apart, connected by one magical pair of jeans that somehow fits them all perfectly. Each girl takes a turn with the pants, and the story follows their separate summers as they deal with family stuff, first loves, growing pains, and that weird shift when life starts changing and you’re not sure who you’ll be on the other side of it. What I loved most is how easy it is to read and how emotionally familiar it feels. The friendship is the core, and it captures that specific kind of teen bond where your friends are basically your whole world. It’s sweet, sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and it has that comforting early-2000s YA vibe that just works. The “magic” is light and symbolic rather than fantasy-heavy, which makes it feel grounded and relatable. It’s not trying to be literary or perfect, it’s just a genuinely enjoyable, feel-good story about friendship and growing up.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a novel I really should have read back in high school!

I found this book surprisingly fulfilling for me being an adult now reading about pre-teens. These stories are sweet and made me want to know more about these characters. I watched the movie years back, but this makes me want to watch it again for all the silly, girly feels (and I miss those ladies who starred in it <3).

The pants being a symbol in this story was a really honest yet fun take on passing the themes around in a book. I truly think it's a smart way to make the symbol so obvious yet... not? I feel like as a pre-teen I wouldn't have noticed the theme, but now as an adult it just warms me up!

Ann makes you love and feel for these girls in this book. It wasn't the fastest moving story, but it still had me hooked at every word. I want to fall into these girls's worlds and be best friends with them (or mentor them, at this point in my life). 

I think this would be a great book for adults to read to their middle grade children, or introduce to their teens. It's sweet and heartfelt - and it doesn't bring you down. It lifts your spirits up, which is something we really need in this world.

If there are any cons about this book, it's that it isn't made for adults - if you are looking for an adult themed book, this isn't it. It's all about teenagers and their problems, in the minds of teenagers. It's not an adult look at teens, in my opinion.

Overall, I'm in love with this series! I hope I'm able to find the rest of this series so I can fall into their lives once again.

There were four girls: Tibby, Carma, Bee and Lena, and they were best friends.
And then they had to spend the summer separated for the first time.
But then they found the Pants(which, conveniently, fit them all) in Carma's wardrobe and decided those pants would be the thing keeping them in touch.
I liked the book, even if it didn't grip me. And let's not talk about the feels in those last few pages.
That one event was heartbreaking. AND MIMI!! 
Anyway. If you're into contemporary(kind of?) fiction, chances are you will enjoy this one

i can't remember if I ever read this book or just watch the movie again & again & again but it is a delightful read!! i genuinely loved it !! I cried a lot and I laughed a lot. I felt so much love for these characters.

I find it amusing that a book about friends sharing an item of clothing is by someone called "Bra-shares" (Clearly, I'm feeling immature today)

This book is OK, but a bit prissy. I guess that's what some parents want from a book for teenage daughters? My favourite characters were actually ones who weren't the main four (Bailey, for example, or Lena's sister Effie). Out of the main four, Tibby is the least irritating and neurotic...

Fun read, though very different from my Christian world view. Because of the variety of real-life issues the girls are facing, I plan on reading this together with my daughters in a few years to discuss the ways the girls in the books handle their problems and we can do some Bible study and problem solving of our own.

the movie adaptation of this book is dear to my heart, i love the relationship between the girls, Lena is my fave character and its such a feel good movie, the book though, was so different! I am still a fan and i want to read through the rest of the books in the series.

The odds of the same pair of jeans fitting four different girls with four very different body types is pretty much impossible, right? Well, usually that would be correct, but in this case, not so much. Carmen Lowell, one of the main characters of this book, happens upon a pair of jeans at a second hand clothing store that she only buys because she didn't want to leave empty handed. But then she forgets all about them until the day before her and her three best friends separate for the first time in their lives. It's summertime, and all four girls will be off having their own adventures for once, without the support and companionship of one another. It's then, in Carmen's room, that the Pants resurface, where Lena gets the idea that all of them should try them on to see who should get them. This is where it all begins, where the Sisterhood begins.

This book follows the story of four different girls: Carmen, Lena, Tibby and Bridget. Four very different personalities but all very close to one another. They became the best of friends in part to their mothers, dubbed The Septembers by their prenatal yoga instructor. The girls were inseparable, during the good and the bad times. Since this is the first time that the four of them won't be around one another, they are forced to deal with things on their own, with only the Pants to serve as their anchor when all hell is breaking loose.

This is a book that is very close to my heart, although it took me many years to finally get the nerve to finish reading it. I watched the movie when it came out, seeing all of my favorite characters come to life and finally getting to see how this novel ends. The character that I related to the most was Carmen, especially because she had to come to terms with the fact that she was angry with her father, and she needed to confront him with what was always bothering her: why he left her and her mom and what made his new family so much better than his old one. It hit me the most because this is how I feel personally, and I envy how brave Carmen was to finally tell her father how she really feels.

The Pants may not be something that's real to me, something that I can hold on to when I feel the need to empower myself, but maybe I don't need it. Carmen, Lena, Tibby and Bridget may feel like they needed the Pants that summer, as a way to encourage them to get through this tough time, but in reality they just needed one another. More letters, more phone calls, more communication between the four of them so that they wouldn't feel like they were alone during the summer. Whatever happened to them, whatever they needed to get through in order to grow up, it made them stronger in themselves, and stronger in each other.

During summer break, longtime friends Lena, Tibby, Carmen, and Bridget each embark on adventures that they share with each other through a pair of jeans that they have decided will be worn by all and so will absorb all of their stories.

I thought this was a cute movie, so I've always wanted to read the series. I'm glad I finally did! It did get a little confusing when it would jump from character to character with a letter written from one girl to another as a segue. I would expect the next section to be about either the girl who wrote the letter or the one receiving it, but usually it was a third girl. Other than that, it was a solid story and a quick read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

I've been wanting to read this series for years. But I just had so many other books to read first. Now I've finally have the time and I got to say this book was a bit of a disappointment. The girls were a bit childish which they are entitled to be since they are still in high school. It was hard for me to relate to them now that I am older and am no longer a high school student. The book was okay, it wasn't wonderful. I finished it in an entire sitting because I don't quit. I had to see this series to the end.

An integral part to my middle school life. I certainly felt rebellious reading this in sixth grade when my classmates were still reading Judy Blume. Always was a favorite.
