About the relationships between friends, family and couples with which anyone can reflect.

This book is just wonderful. Wonderfully written, wonderful characters (St. Clair, you are my soul mate. MARRY ME), wonderful support characters. It has EVERYTHING. All aspects of this book just mesh together and create this lovely story of awesome-ness. I've never rooted for a couple more than in this book! You get so frustrated that its not working out and mad because you just know that it has to (IT HAS TO) and its this roller coaster where you feel like you're stuck over head watching all this and can't do anything about it. (I'm pretty sure I'm making zero sense right now. Sorry about that.) But, anyway, the bottom line is to read this book. You'll journey to France, fall in love with an abundance of characters. I mean, what could be better than that?

I can't believe I spent my time reading this book. 

Everything just doesn't sit right and is so problematic. I cannot. The amount of red flags in the narrative is so overwhelmingly frustrating. Fuck. I honestly can't fathom nor comprehend the logic of this book. If you love this book, okay; but try to consider reading it again so you'd know how fucked up the storyline actually is. However, let me just actually share my thoughts. 

1) I WAS in love with St. Clair. He's so dreamy and really is swoon-worthy. The way he was described and painted in this book was really pretty; yet, he's a cheater. I was questioning his existence 3/4 of the book, actually, men are fucking trash so does Etienne St. Clair.  He constantly flirts with Anna when he has a girlfriend? Yes, it's evident he and Ellie have a problem in their relationship since he never talked a lot about them BUT he cannot break up with her because he's scared of being alone?????????? what the fuck do you mean????? you literally sleep with Anna, eat with her, bring her to places, watch movies with her, run along the crypts with her, and so on. are u fucking kidding me, dude? PLUS, he leads Meredith on. and Anna at the same fricken time. who are both his friends. God. 

2) Anna is a whiny demanding hypocrite. She hated her bff, Bridge, for the very same thing she did to her SOAP friend, Mer. UH? EXCUSE MEEEE and she keeps on interchanging Toph to St. Clair and then, a little later there's also Dave in the picture? Girl, make up your mind can youuuu? She's so sensitive at times too.

this book is a cliche but I absolutely love it to bits.
this book possesses the invigorating attribute of a really good book. quite the page turner, this book was. like most good books that are now on my favourites shelf, I've stayed up all night reading it. that's definitely a good sign... even though I loved & hated this book at the same time!

here, we explore the inner-workings of a girl's mind. this includes her analyzations of everything, her over-thinking, her dreams. no matter how annoying it is, it is the plain & simple truth... that most girls do think this way. as painful as it is for me to admit it, I sometimes think that way. no matter how irrational Anna might've gotten, no matter how blinded she was by love; you cannot judge her for what she's done because you never know, if you were thrown into her situation, you might've done the same.

★★★★ // enjoyable teen flick, and it helps that it made me think of Wild Child.

I have seen Anna and the French Kiss on quite a few lists since I joined Goodreads. A lot of people seem to consider it one of their favorite Chick Lit stories. Having read it, I wonder why...

The main character, Anna, spends a lot of time whining about how terrible it was that her rich dad sent her off to a posh boarding school in Paris. Wah, wah, wah. If you are expecting any sort of travel adventure or cultural immersion, then look elsewhere. Anna very rarely leaves her school (which is solely for American students by the way). Anna is ignorant and oblivious to just about everything. For example, she claims to be a huge Indy film fanatic but was completely ignorant of France having any sort of film culture... because it is not as if many people consider Paris the center of the Arts or anything. So Anna blunders about feeling sorry for herself like the ignorant dunderhead that she is. 

I could not root for the romance because the guy she likes and starts dating already has a girlfriend. He is written as the perfect clichéd boy, yet he is a cheater. Anna fully knows this and continues to mess around with him anyway. I really hate cheaters, so I had zero sympathy for either of them. It was bad enough to cheat, but that stupid-head continues to lead both girls on for most of the year, and yet the author expects readers to sympathize with him? Nope, not happening. So the few cute moments were always overshadowed by the characters' cowardliness and selfishness. The only part I actually enjoyed was when his dad gets what he deserves.

It was also annoying the way Anna refers to Étienne St. Clair by either his first name or last name depending on what mood she is in. It reminded me of The Fault in Our Stars in that regard - in trying too hard to draw symbolism in which name is used - but being reminded of that book really did not ingratiate this book to me. In the end, I found them both to be highly overrated.
