First of i wanna say, Guantanamo Bay prison is still open and that is disgusting. Even if people are guilty of terrorism they deserve fair trial. Of course this book is fictional, but it’s based on reality. Americans prayed on disenfranchised people in a country they were tearing apart with war.

This book follows Khalid a British Pakistani-Turkish boy, he only speaks and knows English and is non religiou, He is kidnapped and after torture where he admits to crimes he did not commit, he is taken to Guantanamo Bay prison,

I had never heard of this book, but my best friend Liv, who worked for penguin had mentioned it to me cause she knows me. I CRIED! It was a story i had to keep putting down to sit with what was happening.

So when it comes to the writing im a little conflicted hence the 3.5 rating, im aware this book is considered YA, im very glad a book with this content exists for younger audiences, i also like YA novels the book is also written from Khalid’s POV and he is only 15 so the way it is written makes sense however sometimes I wish more ‘mature’ language was used, however i understand why it doesn't.

I just i think its a book people should read. Its a really good important book.
