Oh, the pain... I wanted to like it. I truly did. But just couldn't make myself care. It was so hard to follow 🙈 1.5 stars :/ might give the next one a go, maybe it gets better 🤷🏻‍♀️

After prince Rivil fails his attempt to kill his father and seize the throne, he flees Rilpor and falls in with a band of Mireces, converting to their faith, and promising to aid them seizing the throne. This book was absolutely stunning. 

In the beginning I was worried it was going to be difficult to follow with all the different POVs, but it wasn't, I found it perfectly easy to follow. Anna, you did a good job getting rid of those four POV characters.

Whenever a new POV is introduced, in the very first sentence it's made clear who it is exactly. Also, the locations at the beginning of each chapter are great, you can just look it up on the map, it'll help visualise the story better.

It is brilliant how Anna takes you by the hand and guides you through the story, her story-telling skills are impeccable, and it is not too hard to follow.

Last, Anna not going out of the way to add some gore to the story is a massive pluspoint. For me it made the story much better.

I can't wait to do a reread, and I can't wait for the next installment. Please read this if you are a Game of Thrones fan. You'll like it, I'm sure.

Sadly, I did not like the audiobook one bit.

I'm conflicted about this book.

On one hand it was a fairly quick read (maybe because of the short chapters), but some things happened that were very jarring and felt forced, like most of the romance. 

We didnt really get to see many feelings, it was as if the story was being told by an external narrator. It would have been nice to have seen behind that veil a bit more, since I felt both the new romances in this book came out of pretty much nowhere.

I didnt really connect with any of the characters except for Crys, and we didnt get to see much reasoning behind WHY the bad guys did what they did, other than for power (which is a perfectly fine reason, but I'd prefer it to be more clear it's the ONLY reason).

I'm not excited enough to read the next book straight away which leaves me disappointed really.
