Birth Law

Birth law is an important field within women's law. Presenting the first comprehensive survey in English of Scandinavian birth law, this book provides a theoretical introduction to the discipline as well as a detailed discussion of legal aspects of fertility, pregnancy, birth and care. Interdisciplinary approaches are applied to legal, medical and ethical problems. The authors pay particular attention to women's experiences. From the perspective of fertile, pregnant, and birthgiving women, self determination in terms of information, participation and legal safeguards is focused upon.
