I would give 4 stars to the first 3 quarters and then 3 stars to the last bit. I've never read anything by this author but the synopsis alone pulled me in and I read this book in half a day

 I really enjoyed the world building of what would happen if you wake up and everyone is gone and the journey Paige goes through.

However when you got the explanation of why it happened I was like "What?". It was creative but I think I wanted something else or at least more details about it, maybe a flashback or something. It just felt so random, almost like a conspiracy theory. 

Also(trying to avoid spoilers) but I felt like one of the things they were doing was a Doctor Who plot already.
