It's literally been SO LONG since I last stayed up to 1:30 to finish a book. Part of it is probably that I'm not in school right now, because I literally had this conevesation with myself:

Interior: bedroom
Monica is sitting on bed, flipping through book, muttering to herself.
Monica: I have to know, I have to know, I have to know.
Monica glances at her watch.
Monica: I should go to bed.
Monica stands and walks out of bedroom, down the hallway and stairs and retrieves five more coughdrops. She walks back into her room and stares at her light switch, pensively. 
Monica: Hell to that. I don't have school tomorrow.

There's also and example of my lovely script-writing skills. I think maybe I was too wordy with the stage directions. Ah, whatever.

A typical comedy romance, but what I loved about this book is the way that it keeps you coming back for more. It is too engaging too put down! Funny, smart and too cute. What I did not love was how the ending was too quick… NEVERTHELESS it's cute.

This was November's bookclub selection. It was nice to read something light and cheerful particularly right after Gone Girl. It was also a quick read; it only took a day to dash through it.

It was a very cute book, pretty much quintessential chick lit. The characters were endearing and the story line was fast-paced. It even induced a few giggles from me. It was definitely a feel-good book, reminiscent of "You've Got Mail." The subplot of Y2K (aww, remember Y2K?!) was fun. 

However, despite the fluffy cuteness, there were a couple of things about which the less sappy part of my mind kept interrupting. Mainly reality vs. fiction. In the idealistic fiction version, Lincoln is kind, smart, and hot. And even though he lives with his mother, has been pining over the same petty girl for many years, and is basically stalking Beth, you can't help but find him endearing. And Beth initially bases her attraction solely on Lincoln's looks, ogles him, gets possessive about him, and also stalks him. But she is quick-witted and funny so you over look it. Whereas in real life, a guy like Lincoln would not be that good looking or modest. Really, the guy who sits in a dark room, reading people's email, and sometimes lurking over a woman's desk when she isn't there? Yeah, that guy would probably end up burying her body in his backyard (while his mom slept soundly inside). And the woman? Well she would probably be a man-eating harpy who would end up checking the mileage on his car and snooping on this computer to check for infidelity. But it's fiction, so they aren't psycho or even creepy. Just endearing. But somehow, none of that marred the book. It was charming and fun!

Sigh. Such a treat every time to read Rainbow Rowell. Attachments was less intense than her other novels, but still charming and interesting and lovely and everything that makes this author so beloved.

           I really enjoyed this book, not as much as fangirl, but it was worth the read. I like the fact we also were able to see the emails Lincoln was reading rather then just being told in his point of view. It gave us a chance to get to know Beth and Jennifer without actually meeting them right away (though I guess we did meet them right away lol). I don't think I could do what Lincoln did, reading peoples email! I get he did feel guilty and it was his job, but still! It did help him find love so I guess that is a plus!

I understand why some people say it's boring. I don't think boring is the word. It's just that we expect the story to happen in a way, to have more of this and more of that... but I think Rainbow Rowell did it perfectly. There was just the right amount of everything. It had to be slow, it needed all the background stories. 

Also, it amazes me how I can see myself in Lincoln and in Beth at the same time. All the loving too much and needing to be loved too much. 

RR once again does not disappoint. It's a romantic story with room for everything else that exists along with the romance in real life.

This was a bit of a grower for me, but then, maybe that's the point - people aren't usually immediately likeable and you have to know them quite a bit before you can love them. But once I fell, I fell hard - but I'm a sucker for a good romantic story. An office romance with a unique format and likeable characters (but really, I couldn't buy that Lincoln was so damn cute and he had no clue). A nice read on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Took me a while to really get into this one. By half way through I started to hit my stride with it. I love the banter that Rainbow had between Beth and Jennifer. It reminded me of my conversations with my best friend who lives far away. I think what held me back was Lincoln. He was a sweet character and you rooted for him to get it together the whole book but when he did it just didn't seem like enough. His side of the story got a little repetitive and I felt that this was a story about growth and he wasn't growing enough. I think overàll I wasn't in love with this book. More like deeply in serious like with it and wanted to go out on a few dates with it. I'd even let it feel me up.

I just finished it, like, 5 minutes ago. And I decided to write a review before I lose the feeling. The feeling of a good book, a book you have a connection with, a book you really really like. Like it was written just for you (ha), with all the combinations you like to find in a book. Attachments was like the perfect blend of coffee for me. All the ingredients were there, and I could taste better, more expensive coffee, but this was the one for me. I could wake up every morning and drink this everyday for my entire life.

I found the plot synopsis really interesting the first time I checked it out. I liked the idea of a guy falling inlove with someone before he even knew what she looked like. You dont find men like that these days, except in fiction or television. Although I really disapprove of a stranger reading my emails. Ive seen a lot of reviews where they find Lincoln too nerdy or creepy, and I know his actions were wrong. But all that was canceled out because I really liked his character. He was awkward, shy, a total nerd, plus a stalker and not to mentioned he lived with his mom. And that's what I really liked about him. He was an adult, but he was lonely and confused and unsure of his life. He was nice and kind, and nerdy was alright for me. I grew up with guys and gaming, so that was just a bonus on Lincoln's part. His third person POV was an entertaining read. Especially at the part where he finds out he was The Cute Guy. It was really very obvious as soon as Beth mentioned him. . I had to remind myself every now and then that he was fictional. What a shame.

I also really enjoyed reading Jennifer and Beth's conversations. They were witty, funny, and could go on about gossip and small things, at the same time be really heart tugging. These women were very warm and likeable. I could understand why Lincoln kept reading their emails knowing it was wrong. I had no idea you could see lives unfolding in just a bunch of emails. Even without having a clear idea of what they looked liked, I visualized their faces while they talked or the situations they described. What's ironic is what Lincoln was experiencing was just like me (us) reading a book and getting to know the characters. He felt connection just with reading their conversations. He fell inlove, like the way we all do with out fictional characters. The only difference was, Beth was real. My fictional sweethearts (like Lincoln over here) are not.

I loved every part, the narration, the detail, the character building, the dialogue, and the setting. I could identify with all the characters, because I really loved October and gaming and romantic comedy and Star Trek. Im sure not many people would give this five stars, but like I said, it was the perfect blend for me. Rainbow Rowell, you're my new favorite author and imaginary best friend.

Satisfying and swoon worthy; Attachments is exactly like all those 90's romance movies we love to watch over and over again and they never get old. Beth and Jennifer are hilarious, and the whole time I was rooting for Lincoln. I can't say too much with out spoiling the book but it has to be my favorite book by Rainbow Rowell so far! So cute and I swear I got teary eyed a bunch of times. Attachments was a such a feel-good book even when it seemed all hope was lost. Definitely a book that I will read again. Thumbs up!
