This was a reread for me although I haven't read this since I was a teenager. 

The characters are wonderfully alive on the pages and for that alone this would be worth reading, but the story itself is also amazing. There is also a bit of thought to be had a out the nature of memories and how people live on in them by the end. 

I truly love this book and highly recommend it.
