This book is more simplistic than I expected it to be, but it is still a wonderful children's book. Similar to the "This is..." series by Miroslav Sasek, Metropolis features two-page spreads of some of the most famous cities in the world. 

There is not really any text except for labeling of the pictures (often using the native word), but it would be a great gift for a child with family who travels often.
