Brenda Davis is trying to come to terms with a painful past when Gil Jackson strolls into her life. Gil is overbearing but charming and Brenda finds herself ill-prepared for the overwhelming attraction she feels for him. He displays all the male characteristics she detests and, worst of all, he's a lawyer - a member of a profession that Brenda has every reason to detest.
