There are moments where it becomes slightly overdramatize and somewhat unbelievable, but that's pretty typical in stories about Scientology. Because that's Scientology, apparently. If you like stories about rampant child abuse and neglect, this ones for you!

Finished this in about a week! I have done a lot of research on the abuses of Scientology in the past, but this is an easy to understand, well-written, comprised way to get a really good picture of it all. The way Jenna describes yearning for a family is heart-wrenching.

I went back and fourth between giving this three stars or four stars. Eventually I went with four. While I agree with some of the other reviews reviews that the writing was a little uninspired at times, I think that the message of the book was a very strong one. I know a lot of people are aware that Scientology has it's issues, but I had no idea of the full issues at hand. I can't believe we allow stuff like this to go on. I think this is a great book for anyone looking to truly understand the horrors of Scientology.

I'm on a memoir kick. I have always been interested in scientology cult. This book delivered an inside look into the "religion" and its cult like practices. 

How Jenna Miscavige Hill survived her childhood is beyond me. Her power of forgiveness to those in her life who continually failed her (including her husband) is remarkable. Having been born into a cult has its own uniqueness in that she was brainswashed from the very beginning. It is understandable that it took her years to become strong enough to walk away. 

Childhood labor, families being ripped apart and forced abortions are just the tip of the iceberg to in Jenna's book. 

I rated this book three stars - mostly due to the wordiness in her writing and the fact that I felt that it was too detailed in parts, and not enough details in others. Still, she did an amazing job in telling her story and I commend her on the honest depiction of how things went down within her own immediate family and as well as the big picture within scientology. I am left wanting more about what happened next...
