Some stories were a 3, others a 5. The heart-rending ones I will probably remember most, like the ones about terminally ill kids and broken relationships. Still, Lorrie Moore is hilarious and witty and has the best turns of phrases. I highlighted so much. 

A couple favorite bits: 

"But then they went away again, and she lay waiting, fist in her spine, for the grace and fatigue that would come, surely it must come, of having given so much to the world."

"Out the window, there was an afternoon moon, like a golf ball, pocked and stuck. She looked at the calcified egg of it, its coin face, its blue neighborhood of nothing."
