Blackmoore

So good. I cried numerous times. Henry is bae. This was incredibly well-written, immersive, complex and layered. I loved every minute. It was basically Mansfield Park-meets-Northanger Abbey-meets-Jane Eyre and a few other classic romances. Everything you love about those books can all be found perfectly melded into one sweeping lifelong romance. Definitely adding to my personal library.

Review:

I loved the story line and the setting. The author did an amazing job describing the setting and incorporating it into the story. The plot included all these twists and turns that added drama and intrigue to the book. I could never figure out what was going to happen and how the book was going to end. The author continued to manage to make the story interesting and thrilling throughout the book. The way that Kate’s background was added in was perfect and precise and I loved it. Every scene held my attention a full 100%, and I never got bored and skipped a few pages. Overall the book was put together masterfully, so cheers to the author and publisher.

Kate Worthington. Stubborn, willful, brave, smart and yet innocent. I loved her character and ended up rooting for her throughout the book. Sometimes I got frustrated with her stubborn decisions, but then when I found out some of the reasons behind them I made my peace. The author did a good job adding a backstory and emotions to this character to make her believable and relatable. 

Henry Delafield was another stubborn character that I sometimes wanted to shake. But I loved his character and the author did a good job conveying his emotions even if the story wasn’t from his perspective. I really enjoyed most of the characters in this book. I liked that they each had their own personality and each added a significant part of the story.

I did enjoy reading this book and would read other books by this author and publisher. I hope to see some other books to add to this one with a different love interest.

I was really debating between giving this 4 or 5. It's mostly 4.5 but I loved it sooo much I had to round it to five.
I was just reading this review and the writer said:"I only like books I can relate to the main character, but this book was more than that, I saw myself in the main character." Well I can say with certainty that Blackmoore was THAR to me. I saw so much of my self, my pain and the feelings of being caged, the mythological and symbolized references. It was just my little piece of perfection. I felt the character in a way that I can't explain but feel deep in my heart. It was hauntingly beautiful. 
The problem now: so this story is based at sometime around The Bronte/Austen time so the tone of the story should have been a bit more classical perhaps. So that was a huge problem and I didn't love it so much I probably should have given it a 4 just because of that. But I loved it so that does not matter! Also the character cried a little too much at the end. I cried a lot too but that's not the point! She shouldn't have!

I LOVE a romance where the heroine stays true to her goals, even when the circumstance change. Love that for her, and I love the ways these characters adapted and worked with what they had. Well done.

Loved this book. Read it in less than 24 hours. The ending actually surprised me a little, not much but a little. I like how both Edenbrooke and Blackmoore both remind me of Pride and Prejudice in different ways.
