I actually loved this storyline for a YA thriller/horror, but the characters were so stereotypically YA that I hated them all. Occasionally Lillian was entertaining, but no one had the depth that I hoped for, especially with this touching on grief and eating disorders.

This book was very difficult for me to get through. For a 300 page book, this took me WAY too long to read (5 days). I should have been able to get through it in 1-2 days but I was just so bored. There was nothing about it that made me want to keep reading, which is pretty bad in a mystery book which should make me want to read just to find out the answer to the mystery but I honestly just didn't care. I really did not like the characters in the least. The ghost was annoying and the MC is going through a phase that I outgrew long ago...maybe I am just too old for it. Anyway, not recommended.

When I picked this up I really didn't read the description because I loved the cover and heard of the author through another author I adore (Maggie Steifvater). I totally thought (for some reason) that this was going to be about Victorian England, perhaps something along the lines of Jack the Ripper for teens, and that it would be awesome.

WELL, it was awesome, but it was totally a contemporary horror tale, complete with a serial killer, ghosts, and a photo developing shop. The mystery wasn't as awesome as the characters, but I definitely enjoyed reading and was super creeped out.
