There were some surprising twists, and quite frankly, some things I could not understand about the decisions and actions of some of the characters.  The ending was also, shall we say, quite unexpected.  I did not like the protagonist and thought she made some really idiotic decisions, but it did create an interesting read.

This is a gothic-style ,atmospheric thriller with some horror vibes. Oh-and some Norwegian myths and folklore thrown in for good measure. It’s the story of Lexi, homeless and suffering from depression, who steps into a nanny job in Norway by pretending to be someone else.

This novel has a creepy plot, but don’t let that fool you. It explores deep themes of environmental protection and mental health. I loved it.

major haunting of bly manor vibes but i just couldn’t connect with the characters :/ this ended up being alright, not a huge fan of the ending

I really enjoyed this book, got Turn of the Key and Bly Manor vibes from it. It was interesting and well put together - the animal imagery was brilliant and I enjoyed reading it a lot. 

BUT I’m writing this review a month and a half after I read it and I can’t remember what happened in the end. I may need to rethink my rating...

This book had so many twist and turns it kept me on the edge of my seat. It was hard to knkw who to trust and I wanted to know more. It made me jump, it kept me wanting to turn the page.
A brilliant thriller/horror its very dark and thrilling.
I was hoping for it to scare me more and that's why I'm giving it a four star.

I was expecting a mystery/thriller grounded in reality, but what I got was more of a mystery with supernatural elements (well, more than just elements). I wasn't a huge fan of the writing nor was I a fan of the character taking care of the children. All in all, it wasn't awful, but it also wasn't amazing for me.
