*swoon* I gobbled this book up in about a day and a half. It would've probably been in one sitting, but kids and life and all that. This is a book that stays with you. Tortured hero and heroine... a dramatic subplot (which will be covered I assume in the next in the series), kidnapping, war, near death experiences...

Loretta sees her families killed by the Comanche and as a result has lost the use of her voice. Hunter's wife is killed by "white men" and as a result he is bitter and fighting for his people. Prophecy forces the two of them together and this is the story of their tumultuous relationship.

The whole enemies to lovers thing never really appeals to me, but the more I read, the more I found myself getting sucked into that plot device in this and other historical romances. The writing was spectacular - I found myself highlighting many gems. 

This book is not a light-hearted romance and written in the more dramatic bodice-ripper style. Bodice-ripper books do not generally stand the test of time in today's world, but I'm a sucker for them. This was a 5-star read for me. After returning my library-loan I purchased for my permanent collection.
