Skye always felt like Summer was the sun and she was her shadow, this is something I believe a lot of siblings can relate to. 

Throughout the book Summer realized sometimes we have to let go of people to let them be free and find out who they are without the other, although that doesn't mean we lose them, it just means we grow. 

Skye understood that Summer never wanted to change her, she just needed her sister and was afraid of losing her. 

Sometimes we do things to keep the other one there because we think it will keep them from leaving, but instead it just drives them further apart

Skye's dreams throughout the book  seemed like an escape from the pain she felt of being a shadow girl

I related a lot to Skye, dreams can be really strange, sometimes haunting yet comforting. It was like an escape from her pain of always being the second choice, she got to live out her own adventure and have something no one else had. The desire and need of being your own person, of finding out who you are without everyone else around you

In the start I thought Finch was a part of her escape world, something she made up because it distracted her from her own thoughts and feelings of never being the chosen one, the one people wanted.

But in the end she actually ended up meeting him, and all this time I wonder if our hearts sometimes know before our mind does. That maybe dreams can become real, even the ones that follow you into the night

It is a well written book that includes family history and ghosts. Quite spooky and shows the hardships of being in a large family. It will define get you out of a reading slump if you want something easy.
