For the most part, I did like this book.
Once it got going that is.
The start is kind of a mess. It’s rushed and info dump-y and I think there was probably a better way to describe the events of the past in an easier way. I did enjoy the banter between Maliki and Sienna, so not all is lost, but still, it was an awkward telling events.
I liked Ki. I really loved his POV and sometimes wanted more of it. There were also a few time where I wanted to wring his neck, but he redeem himself, eventually.
Sienna annoyed me a few times, *ahem* Devin, but I think she got there in the end.
The twists were interesting for me, but only if something similar hadn’t happened earlier in the book. 
This is an okay book for. Fans of Charity’s will love it, but as a first-time reader it didn’t all work for me,

Okay, the way they met
omg so hot.
so cute.
but it felt rushed like it just started right off the bat and I enjoyed it but at the same time didn't.
maybe I'm just more of enemies to lovers and not really friends to lovers type of gal

she kinda just stalked him until they were besties.

Okay, but why didn’t he tell her right away??? Definitely stupid on his part.
the he's going to act like he didn't betray her trust??

The way I say next to my mom straight-faced like I wasn’t reading abt someone getting their brains fucked out and then their heartbroken.

I’m glad she didn’t forgive ki right away either y'know gotta let him sweat a little.

In the end/ epilogue kinda I was expecting her to pregnant but she wasn't.
I love Molly tho she's so sweet.

Whatever was going on between Georgia and Archer yea I felt that tension there better be a book coming.

I just read this without the other ones so I can approve that this can be read as a stand-alone.

I liked it so I might just read the other books too.

So this is apparently the fifth book of a six book series...

I didn't read anything before this and I'm mad at myself 😀 

This book was okay. I really liked Sierra's character however, Maliki was crap. He literally gaslighted Sierra a bit too much. 

Then there's the scenes when he kept telling Sierra to stop comparing him to her shitty exes. 

Maybe if you didn't give her a reason to, she wouldn't???? 

I actually pretty much hated his character mid way through the book. 

The age gap was already a big no-no to me. He kept referencing her age and their difference and basically just reminded me that she's like in her mid 20s while he's in his mid 30s. 

If age doesn't matter, then why is this guy obsessed with calling her little one and literally every other icky name one can be called. 

Will I still be continuing this series? Yes. Why? Because it did get me out of a slump and I do like other secondary characters. I'm hoping they have better books than this tbf.

If I had to describe this book I would say age ain’t nothing but a number.

Of course you want to feel weird about the age difference when the story starts out at her being 18 years old. But honestly speaking after the age of 21 and when it comes to dating it doesn’t really matter. 

This was a very fun story because of the age differences but it doesn’t affect the story too muchZ of course you can tell Maliki is more experienced + mature but nothing can deny the love he quickly forms for Sierra. 

They go through some challenges but nothing enough to shake their world completely off it’s axis.

I’m not going to lie, I’m mentally angry at myself for not picking this up sooner. I had read Just a Fling (Blue Beech #1) earlier in the year and it wasn’t for me, I couldn't get past the storyline but loved Charity’s writing. I fell in love with her spin off series (Twisted Fox) not realizing it connects to the Blue Beech series. So I picked up book 2, fell in love, so I continued the series and here we are. Just Roommates is book #5 in the Blue Beech series and now one of my favorite reads of 2021. 

The chemistry between Sierra and Maliki is unbelievable. I love their banter, their honesty, they’re honestly everything I look for in a couple. The book had me laughing out loud at times, it made me feel what the characters felt and it had me rooting for them from page one. I wanted to drop all of my responsibilities to read this book because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes romance. Despite being part of a series, Just Roommates could easily be read as a stand alone and fall in love with it as much as I did.
