Charles Holme famously visited Japan in the spring of 1889 in the company of painter Alfred East and Arthur Lasenby Liberty and his wife. Both the Lazenby private photo collection and Holme's detailed diary of the visit, including his record of the visit to the U.S. on the return journey, are published here for the first time.
