So could you believe this is a debut? Well it is, and it was really good. I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started this book I didn’t know what I was getting into so I wasn’t expecting it to be as dark as it was. The experience felt similar to Still Beating but following only the woman from the story who went through horrible things. Some parts of it were hard to stomach. The way it played out was interesting going from what was happening and jumping to the aftermath as well. It didn’t feel like a  thriller until I got closer to the book   But it gave all the aspects you would want for it and I really liked this book the story and if you are okay with tougher topics and darker actions you would like this book.

For the road narrative, it sits almost midway through the spectrum at a dark gray, 666666. Put into words, it's marginalized, rural, offroad. Annie's role here is primarily that of victim. She has very little in way of agency and her trip to the woods is not one she choses for herself. Except for the identity of the accomplice, the narrative is as gray as its placement in the road narrative spectrum.

Unique approach to thriller genre

This story is told via the device of the main character talking to her psychiatrist. She describes being abducted while hosting an open house, the year she spent in captivity, and the difficulties of trying to learn to live again. The control devices (only being allowed to pee on a schedule, etc.) were quite diabolical. How she was chosen, and why was totally unexpected. I will definitely try another of her books.

This book was very hard to read because of the subject, but I couldn't put it down! I felt Annie's terror at being held captive. I cried with her over the things she had to do to survive. I highly recommend this book.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Still missing follow Annie after she had been abducted by a man who showed up to her open house. In the form of therapy sessions we follow her as she comes to terms with what happened to her-the first half of the book going through what happened in the cabin after she was abducted and the second half focuses more on the present-who really took her. Not everyone is as innocent as they seem... 
I enjoyed this book-it definitely grabs your attention and keeps you interested. I found Annie to be a realistic person and I liked that they showed it through her eyes in therapy sessions. It made it more real. This novel brought up a lot of emotions in me as I learned more about Annie's experience-not only in the woods with her kidnapper/rapist/"the Freak" but how traumatized she was after and how strong she could be while still feeling horrible. This book felt real and that is what makes it such a good/sad book.

I started this some time back and have only come around to finishing it. I do no remember Alot, I do know it's pretty skin crawling disgust. Definitely love the articulation of the characters (if not for the lack of diversity).

Still missing is a psychological fiction book that follows Annie O'Sullivan through a journey of being kidnapped, tortured and then thrust back to society and forced to cope. 

I started this some time back and have only come around to finishing it. I do no remember too much, I do know it's pretty skin crawling disgust. Definitely would love the articulation of the characters if not for the lack of diversity. 

The plot was all over the place, and it definitely took me more time to figure out the plot twist. Two stars for the sheer emotion evoking that I went through (physically had to not try to throw up around the time he made her drink the toilet water).

Do I recommend it? Yes. Sometimes you have to read a story for yourself to figure it out.
