A really good fantasy series set in New York about two twin children, John and Philippa, who discover they are djinn (not genie, apparently that term's offensive to djinn), and they go on adventures with their uncle, Nimrod; Nimrod's butler, Groanin (who has one arm); and Mr Rakshasas, a really old, agoraphobic djinn who stays in his lamp and talks in riddles and occasionally gives them advice. I like this series because the characters are likable and because I think the storylines are pretty interesting
