Had to read this for a class in college where I read the Goodbye to Berlin story and the format of the narrative was a bit confusing as it was unclear when things were taking place at specific points, and the fact that the main character shared the same name of the author. It didn't make the story less enjoyable but it didn't have me hooked. The only scene that I enjoyed throughout the entire story was when Christopher was on the Ruegen Island chilling with two dudes.

This novel by Christopher Isherwood was a required reading for one of my Humanities courses. I was captivated by the novel from the first few pages and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters in both 'The Last of Mr. Norris' and 'Good-bye to Berlin'. Both stories take place during the Weimar Republic in Berlin, following World War I.
I would highly recommend this book in order to gain a greater understanding of the time period preceding World War II and the Nazis rise to power in Germany.
