Bunny is a big bunny now and picks out some creepy underwear instead of the boring plain white. Unfortunately, the underwear are a bit more sinister then he was hoping for leading to a series of attempts to rid himself of the glowing pair which keep returning, no matter what he does.

My five year old loves this and the illustrations are amazing and remind me of classic noir films. I must say I do find it quite creepy that we are teaching kids about gas-lighting so young and you never figure out how the heck the underwear come back after bunny cuts them up with a scissors...

Thankfully a cute ending leaves you happy, yet still slightly unsettled.

I don't know if the author or illustrator intended for this to be an allegory for, um, how do I say this delicately, well, there's really no way—kids fascination with their genitals. There are no literary accidents, so whether or not they intended it, it's there, and it's brilliant. I think it will especially feel familiar to little cis-boys. I've babysat a lot of boys, I remember boys when I was little. Four, five, six years old. It's about the time that they start to become aware of their penis. I don't blame them. It's pretty fascinating. They want to show it to you, they want to play with it, they are surprised by how it works, and what it does. I imagine there might even be some anxiety there, hence, the creepy underwear with a life of its own that you can't escape. Anyone else get this?

Beyond the metaphor I took from it, this book is just hilarious. The illustrations hearken back to the gorgeous film-noir drawings that we saw in Creepy Carrots, except now instead of orange highlights we have this gorgeous green glow throughout. It's just so so so good. You can't go wrong with this book.
