Emi is trying to complete the mission given to her by Amaterasu and has to face some challenges in completing the tasks.

Emi and Shiro were still great. I think I guessed Shiro’s story (that he’s Inari) when Jorogumo attacked, but I still didn’t understand why he had the onenju.

I really liked the kind of quests that they faced when they were tracking down the Kunitsukami. I think one of my favourite scenes was when Emi encountered the kodama and then later when Shiro showed up.

I really liked the side characters that were shown (for example, Yumei and Uzume) but I wanted to see more of them.

There’s still a lot that needed to be solved and I can’t wait to see how it happens as well as just seeing more interactions between Emi and Shiro.

loved the pacing and flow from book 1! Love the build up and surprises!!

It's hard for me to get into a series lately. I'm just so dang picky. But I do love this series so, so much! It is a bit of a slow start but honestly that doesn't bother me as much as it usually does with this series. I'm enjoying reading through Emi's journey and seeing her grow as a character is very satisfying. Also, seeing her interact with Shiro and Yumei and the others is very much enjoyable.

There was also a twist (I don't believe in spoilers, so no worries there!) in here that should have been quite obvious to me a long time ago indeed but somehow I was still in shock over the whole ordeal...

DT picks up immediately after the first book so I appreciate getting right into the action. As there was a lot less world building required, reading this was pretty enjoyable for a sequel. If I remember correctly, there isn't much mention of the modern world that it is set in as compared to book 1, and definitely feels more fantastical due to that.
