Love the art and colours.  Also, the "monsters"!  I'm invested in a couple characters but not 

 intrigued by the story so far.  I have a feeling things might get more interesting in Vol. 2 and look forward to reading more.

The Sangerye family was once known as the greatest monster hunters of all time known for healing monsters with root based potions, then tragedy struck, and most of the family perished. 

Now, the family is divided between those who cure the monsters and those who kill the monsters. 

There is a new type of monster on the streets, and the town is in disarray. It's up to the last living survivors of the Sangerye family to save Harlem. 

This was really interesting! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I really enjoyed the art. Both the art and the story are very unique. 

I'm giving this 5 out of 5 stars.

As soon as I open the pages to this graphic novel, I emerged into the Harlem Renaissance period following the Sangeryre family- who hunts and cures monsters/demons.The color palette and panels felt cinematic and well thought out. I enjoyed the pace of the story, as it was very action packed. The events made the Sangeryre family feel like they couldn’t catch a break, as evil was causing chaos all throughout the streets of Harlem. I love how each character you can tell how they were personality wise right off the bat, all the characters came off as three dimensional making me want to know more about them. The way ethnogothic themes were woven into the story was amazing. I love the approach that the monsters weren’t just monsters but, people infected by hate and pain stem from racism and the Sangerye family is taking charge to fight and cure that evil.
