This book was a tough read. Platt holds nothing back and really lays out the scripture in a clear-cut and convicting way. The sub-title of the book says it all- “A call to die, a call to live.” I think I knew what Platt was going to say as I headed into this book, and so there wasn't much that surprised me. However, his arguments from scripture cut straight to your heart. I think in many areas I am doing a decent job of following Jesus, but the call to be a “fisher of men” is reiterated over and over in the book, and it's hard to hear when you aren't sharing Jesus everyday of the week. Honestly, the book weighs heavily on my heart. I can't help but walk away from it feeling like I need to be better about sharing the gospel with those around me. David sums up his book in his final chapter. In that chapter he gives a list of questions to ask yourself. That list of questions is a perfect starting point for anyone that is looking to see transformation in their life.
