This is a nice pretty exhaustive history of the whole sordid affair which really begins to stink up the place. Of course the author is all rah rah Whitman. The book ends with Whitman teary eyed about how he didn't get all that fucking respect the author thought he ought to have coming to him. That whole ending took one star away right there.
