This will probably be a short and simple review, because I read this book too long ago, and it wasn’t too memorable, and I didn’t have strong feelings anyway.

It is definitely a children’s book. While I still thoroughly enjoy middle grade books, I am way too old for the children’s ones, and I didn’t realise this was too young for me. I just picked it up for a readathon without much thought.

The story in itself is cute and sweet, there is action, sentimental episodes, fun, suspense. I am sure that a child reading this will have a blast. The drawings were also fun, and I think reflected the book really well.

The biggest problem for me were the onomatopoeias. I get that maybe children really love that, but I think it was a bit overdone. Everything that made a sound was noted and the sound mentioned, and it grows old after a while.

This is my first book by this author and unfortunately will be the last, but I think that if I had to recommend a book to a primary school child, this would be a very good choice and I recognise it has lots of merit.
