I haven't read Dan Brown since Da Vinci was de rigueur but my son has recently found him and picked up this book to discuss it with him. It's a quick read. It's fun. It demonstrates that Brown is really good at what he does and for people complaining this isn't Gatsby or Ulysses...it isn't supposed to be. 

Yes, it's somewhat formulaic. 

Yes...it's slightly predictable though I am fine suspending belief in the same way that I do when I watch a Star Wars or Marvel movie. 

I found myself finishing each (brief) chapter saying "damn, you, you don't need a cliffhanger every other page"...then reading on for "just a few more pages".

I have officially read every Dan Brown book and I am begging for more. I did not find Deception Point as good as Dan Brown's other novels, but it was still an instant classic that kept me on my toes.

This novel was more of a political thriller, since it follows a secret NASA and the American Government have been hiding from the public. It was a well thought out plot with great character development, but I wanted more out of the novel. I wanted a little more suspense and thrills in this novel similar to Digital Fortress. 

This novel had nothing wrong with it other than me being selfish and wanting more action and thrills. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick read with thrills and unexpected plot twists. A great novel!

I also want a sequel to this novel, since I want to see all the backlash that happens after the secret is discovered, and the continued building of relationships between some of the main characters. But alas, I doubt we will get one anytime soon from Dan Brown. I will hope though. There is a lot of potential for the characters in this book for further novels, and potentially discovering other secrets different Governments or agencies have hidden away from the public.

Four out of five stars, since I wanted more action and thrills.

i always talk about how much i love this book. everyone talks about da vinci code or angels and demons, but we should be talking about this one. so so cool and even though i’m not super into NASA or meteors or anything like that, this was super fun.

Not too bad, but idk I've liked other Dan Brown books more than this one. Maybe it's just me, but I think it was filled with a little too much technical, unwieldy description that I had little to no patience for. This could also be because I've been reading books with more rich, elegant and sophisticated literary devices than what I saw in this book so perhaps I may be being unfair. While the plot was definitely dense and hurtled along at a breakneck speed, I felt at some points it was a little too sensational and dramatic for the sake of being dramatic/sensational. 

It's not a bad book, but it's not that great either. I did like the tension, thrill and suspense, and it did make me stay up in bed to finish it, but I think that was a little more to do with frustration with how long winded the story could get rather than truly enjoying the book. I felt like this book was a little bit of a race for me to just get to the end and figure out what was going on. I definitely feel like many parts of it could have been shortened or simplified and it would have still retained its drama and tension, perhaps in a more interesting and intriguing way. But yknow, I guess Dan Brown would justify the long-windedness on account of thoroughness and comprehensiveness. All in all quite a good 'trashy' read, more of a once-in-a-while indulgence than anything culturally relevant or insightful per se.
